The Senior Criminal Lawyer represents private, legally-aided and pro bono clients

and provides them with skilled and responsive advice and representation in their summary and indictable criminal law matters.
The role sits within a multi-disciplinary team of 11 lawyers that practice in a variety of
legal areas, with a broad range of stakeholders and partner organisations, meeting legal need for sectors of the community that in many cases experience barriers in accessing justice.
This locum position is for a period of 4 weeks from 11 April 2022 until 6 May 2022 and will generally require managing and progressing the existing caseload, court appearances and briefing where appropriate, and responding to client enquiries.

Key Duties include:

• Provide legal information, advice, referrals and casework in areas of criminal law;

• Appear in court on behalf of clients in matters including pleas of guilty, contest mentions, committal mentions and bail applications and brief barristers to represent clients at court where appropriate;

• Apply for grants of Legal Aid where appropriate and ensure compliance with Victoria Legal Aid guidelines
