Fitzroy Legal Service has been successful in its application to establish Q+Law (working title) – a community-led LGBTIQA+ legal service for Victoria. Q+Law will operate in partnership with Queerspace and will deliver safe and inclusive legal services at the Victoria Pride Centre and outreach to various locations including Queerspace and Your Community Health. The Queerspace Community Governance Committee will provide expert lived experience advice and ensure the intersectional voices of our communities inform the service development of Q+Law.

About the role

The Q+Law Administration and Client Services Officer will support the establishment of Q+Law and provide effective reception and intake services, as well as information and referral to clients. You will also support the legal practice file management tasks and the broader administrative activities of Q+Law. You will have high-level client service skills, and an ability to work with diverse members of the community including those experiencing intersectional disadvantage. This role is a contract role to 31 October 2024.

Key duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Service establishment: Support the establishment of Q+Law, including office space, information technology and administrative needs.
  • Information, referral and reception services: Field client inquiries, identify client needs, and provide appropriate referrals.
  • Legal practice support: Book appointments, support file management systems and general administration of legal practice. Work with client management system ActionStep.
  • Office administration and IT systems: oversee office equipment, ordering and maintenance of office supplies, and effective integration of Fitzroy Legal Service IT system into Q+Law
